Piasau Post - Issue 106
13th February 2007
Dear Parents,
A warm (and wet!) welcome to
our new colleagues, Mark and Catherine, and our new pupils from Malaysia. We all hope
that you’ll have a very enjoyable and worthwhile experience during your time
at Piasau. Joining our new 12 Malaysian pupils
will be Pip Rowland and Julia Donaldson. These two teachers
– also evacuated from Nigeria – are arriving in Miri today.
The children and the two teachers will be with
us until the end of the school year.
School Review
The school inspectors are presently completing the final stage of their
report on Piasau School. So far the teaching staff
have had a verbal feedback and witnessed a draft of their findings. Our initial
reaction is one of absolute delight to have
been involved in such a positive inspection. The team prepares a “parents’ Summary”
which will be distributed as soon
as we
receive it. There will also be the opportunity to request a copy of the full
report.
Health and Safety.
With this newsletter is a copy of a separate letter regarding a safety issue. Please take note of the contents and support
the school in ensuring that it
is a safe place for your children to learn and play. The changes introduced in
the letter
will come into effect on the
first Monday after the Chinese New Year break
Swimming
There will be no school swimming sessions during the first week back
after the Chinese New Year break
(Wednesday 28th February and Thursday 1st March). The school’s swimming coach will
not be available on those days.
Footbal
lThe rain washed away any chances of playing the Brunei football
tournament over the weekend. A great disappointment
for so many children (and
adults). The organizing committee have yet to decide
whether to try and reorganize a new
date for this school year.
