New School Building
As you will be aware the new building work has started on the tennis court. The work will impact on several aspects of the school and our aim is to manage the situation so that the children’s learning is not negatively affected. We will be constantly reviewing the situation both in and around school. The contractors expect to be on site for approximately 10 months.

One area that has been immediately affected is the reduction of the number of parking spaces. Now, more than ever, it is vital that drivers take extra care when maneuvering around the school entrances. To help ease the problem it is hoped that more parents will use the drive through/drop off facility in front of the school steps – we are opening the school gates earlier to support this. If you are using the limited parking spaces please try to vacate them as soon as possible.

Assessment Results Analysis.
We have just received the following updated information regarding the comparison of our Primary 7 pupils results last year with those from all the Shell Schools around the world. They make very encouraging reading both for Shell generally and for Piasau in particularly.

66 Children not including Piasau Pupils

Primary 7 Sat results 2006

Percentage of children in Shell Schools achieving each level
  Level 3 Level 4 Level 5
English 5% 43% 51%
Maths 3% 42% 56%
Piasau School (11 Children)

Level 4 is the expected norm for Primary 7 children

Holiday Period
We are all looking forward to our school break, as it has been a very busy term - it has also been a very successful one for the school. The excellent comments from the inspection team and being the first school ever to receive a ‘mastering’ level for children’s learning throughout the school, have reinforced our confidence in the belief that Piasau is a great school.

We hope that all the children have a pleasant holiday. Next term the holiday periods are slightly more complex due to the number of national holidays that fall on weekdays – a copy of the school dates, up until July 2008, is available on the school’s website: www.piasauschool.com

Best Regards from all the staff.
