Piasau Post - Issue 114
22nd october 2007

Dear Parents,

We hope that everyone has been able to have a restful break and are now ready for the next eight busy weeks. For a full view of the school calendar - through until July 2009 -please check the school’s website; www.piasauschool.com

This coming Saturday sees the school’s DUATHLON. The start time for those children attempting the long course is 7.00 am – so you need to be at the Boat Club by 6.45 am. The shorter distances start at 7.15 am. The event starts and finishes at the PBC.
Entries on the day will NOT be allowed.
A huge thank-you goes to the staff and parents for their commitment to this fun event.

On Tuesday the 30th October there will be our second opportunity for you to meet with the teachers. This time it is for a private consultation on how well your child is learning in school. For those new to the system the procedure is quite simple; each class teacher has a sign-up form for you to enter your name next to a time. These sign-up forms are kept in Linda’s room (at the top of the main entrance steps) and are accessible as from Tuesday (23rd October) morning. On Tuesday 30th October you then have to turn up at the allocated time at the class teacher’s room. Be aware that we have to run a very strictly timed structure – if you turn up for the appointment late you will be given a shorter period of time to talk with the teacher.

The after school clubs start again this Tuesday  - however, please note that there will be no clubs on the following Tuesday in order to accommodate the parents’ evening mentioned above. The clubs then continue through until 4th December 2007.

This term’s country in focus for our cultural module is Australia. If you have any artifacts or if you would like to get involved please contact either Mr. Stuart or Miss Dawn who will be only too glad to hear from you.

I end this Piasau Post newsletter with a mixture of both sad and good news. At the end of the term Mr. Mark will be returning to New Zealand – the reason being that he will be getting married early in the new year and setting his home up in his native country – we all wish him well. Mr. Mark’s class will be taken by Miss Pip – who is no stranger to the school and who is already working with the P6 class. We are confident that the transition between the two teachers will be very smooth.

As always, if you have any thought or concerns regarding your child’s education please do not hesitate to contact the school.
