Piasau Post - Issue 116
8th January 2008

Dear Parents,

Welcome to our first newsletter of 2008 – we wish you all the best for the year.

With this newsletter you should have also received a copy of the school’s 2008 Guide for Families. We hope that you find the information useful. You should also have received a copy of this term’s “Diary Dates”. As you will see this is quite a complicated time with the rather unusual holiday pattern. In fact this Thursday (10th January) is one of those days that the school has to close.

There are a few dates for you to take note of.
On Thursday 24th January there will be an opportunity for you to call into school and share some time with your children in the classroom. From 9.00 am until 9.40 am you are invited into school to allow the children to show you the work they have been doing – they may also want to show you around the school.
This ‘drop-in’ isn’t the time to talk to the teachers about your child’s individual learning – you will have the opportunity to do that at the parents’ evening which is to be held on Tuesday 29th January. The sign-up books for the parents’ evening will be available in Linda’s office from Wednesday 23rd January. Simply call into to Linda’s room and book your appointment.

The Parent Teacher committee will be circulating details about the Fox Hunt which will be held on Saturday the 2nd February. The Fox Hunt is a fun version of hide and seek where the children have to find the teachers – it’s also a great opportunity for the teachers to wear some of their fancy dress costumes!

At the end of last term we were all delighted to be involved in the children’s highly successful December performance. We have a vast collection of ‘official’ photographs for you to look at and purchase if you desire. There are two discs of photographs stored at the Potteries Photographic Department. Each photograph is numbered. To save you having to look through all the photographs, we have grouped them in sets of numbers for each class. The set of numbers for your child’s class will be displayed on your child’s classroom window. When you know the numbers you can call into the Potteries and ask to view that particular set.

The school has made a very pleasing start to the year – our new nursery children seem to be settling in very well, as do our three new families. We are now all looking forward to another busy and learning focused term.

As always, if you have any thought or concerns regarding your child’s education please do not hesitate to contact the school.
