Piasau Post - Issue 117
11th February 2008
Dear Parents,
It was a great start to the new year to see so many parents at the Drop – In. We received some very positive feedback from you – and it was clear by the expressions on the children’s faces that they were very happy to see you there and were able to show you their learning.
The foxhunt also went down really well – sadly I missed an opportunity to ‘dress-up’!
Thanks go to all those involved.
I was in The Netherlands interviewing the candidates for the headship at the time.
The new head (subject to all the usual formalities) will be Ms Yvette Jeffrey.
She is presently the head of a school in the UK having spent some of her working life in Spain.
The search for a deputy head was not as successful. The position has been re-advertised and interviews will take place in mid March.
We have also appointed three teachers for September. One is an additional teacher and the other two are to replace Dawn and Sheila.
They are; Neil Gurman (presently working in the UK).
Jacqueline Bradfield (presently working in Russia).
Charlotte Isherwood (presently working in Kuala Lumpur).
Next week the school is delighted to have been chosen to host the IPC conference for Asia. We are expecting to have around 70 teachers from a wide variety of schools. A significant part of the conference is based on creating the opportunity for other teachers to see some of the excellent practice that goes on at Piasau. It is also an opportunity for all our staff to receive some additional on-site training. Consequently, the school will be closed on Wednesday 20th, Thursday 21st and Friday 22nd February.
With this newsletter you should also receive the school’s updated calendar. This takes you through to January 2010. It is always a bit of a gamble predicting some public holidays but the main dates will be correct. Please note that these dates differ from the ones that are in the school’s handbook.
The PTA and a few helpers will be running a cycle safety awareness sessions for the children. More information on this will follow.
The latest date we have been given for the handover of the building extension is now 1st April (2008!).
As always if there are any concerns or comments on your child’s education please do not hesitate to call in. If you need to phone school there are three numbers that you can use:
