Piasau Post - Issue 119
28 April 2008
Dear Parents,
As we reach the half way stage of this long half term we thought that it would be good to keep you up to date with a few developments.
THE NEW EXTENSION BUILDING
As you will be able to see the work on the new building is complete. We are now waiting for the occupation permit from the local authority to come through. The area has passed the Shell HSSE inspection. Our aim is to move the P6s, P7s and P8s into the building before the end of this school year. The library will be relocated there as well as the staffroom, Linda’s room and the new head’s office.
LEAVERS
The teaching staff for the next school year is now finalised. The new head teacher will be Miss Yvette Jeffrey, Nic Roe will be the deputy head, Karen Oliver will be the senior teacher with the responsibility for the school’s improvement plan, Charlotte Isherwood, Neil Gurman, Jacqueline Bradfield and Claire Bowden will be the new class teachers.
Myself, Frank, Dawn, Sheila and Claire Bonham will not be renewing our contracts.
There will also be significant changes to the pupil population. We are anticipating that around 60 children will be leaving Piasau School during the next three months and we have approximately twenty pupils on our new arrivals list. Exciting times ahead.
SPLASH
The school’s annual upper school ‘Splash’ will take place this Friday 2nd May. Please make sure that your child has drinking water, sunscreen, hat and suitable swimming attire. The event will start at 8.50 am and you are welcome to come along to the KRP pool to see; how do you manage to solve the problem of being ‘up the creek without a paddle’! (The Splash for P1, P2 and P3 will be held on 21st May).
MAY DAY
The school has to close this Thursday for the Malaysian May Day celebration. The school will also be closed for the Wesak celebrations that take place on Monday 19th May. We hope that you enjoy your time with the family.
BOOK WEEK
The children had a very enjoyable week that, hopefully, increased their love of reading.
Photographs of the week are on our school website – www.piasauschool.com. We hope that you enjoy looking at them. Thanks to you all for getting your children prepared for the parade – and a special thanks to those of you that raided your own dressing up wardrobe and joined in the fun.
CLASS PHOTOGRAPHS
The photographs are still on display in Linda’s room along with the necessary order forms. Closing date for orders is 9th May.
As always, if you have any comments and concerns, the doors are always open.
John and all the staff.
