Piasau Post - Issue 125
10 November 2008
Dear Parents
Welcome back! I hope you all enjoyed your holiday and look forward to the events planned for the remainder of this term. It is indeed a busy term and below are some of things that will be happening.
As always, should you need any further information or would like to speak to me or other staff, our doors are always open.

8th December – Hari Raya Haji
As 8th December is a national holiday, school will be closed for the day.
13th and 14th November – Visit by Fieldwork Education and Stitching NOB
For some time the school has showcased the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) and last year hosted the IPC annual conference, giving other International Schools a glimpse of all the great learning that happens here. For our own benefit and in recognition of all that happens at Piasau School, we have asked for a Review and IPC Accreditation visit in term 3 this academic year. To support us in the process Antoinette Duthie, Assistant Director for Fieldwork Education and her Dutch colleague Everdienne Geerling, will be visiting us on Thursday and Friday this week. Both work closely together in providing educational support for Shell Schools. They will be giving staff up-to-date training on Assessment for Learning, which is one of the areas we are developing this year. They will also be visiting classes and talking with the leadership team.
26th November – Jerudong meeting
On Wednesday 26th November, John Price, Headteacher of Jerudong International School (JIS), Brunei, will be visiting school to talk to parents of students in their final years here. There are two meetings arranged. The first meeting will take place at 4pm at school and you will have the opportunity to meet with staff from JIS and find out more about the school and ask questions. Later at 6pm in Hornbill House you will be able to meet the parents of students who are already at Jerudong.
Dropping off children at school
Many thanks for your cooperation during the time that we had fewer parking spaces as the wall was being replaced next to the staff car park. Good to see so many of you walking to school. You might also have seen me! You will have noticed that the yellow lines have been repainted for safer crossing into and out of school. Zainab, our reliable AP, continues to do a great job of ensuring children and parents have a safe entry to school. We are also having an AP on Wednesdays at 11.40am at the main road crossing, when Nursery and P1 both leave school. You will also have noticed the “No Parking” signs that have been placed next to school. This is because at the side of school we have a walking path and if cars park there, children have to then walk in the road to get to school. Please respect the signs and can you ask the person who drops your children off to park elsewhere. Many thanks.
13th and 14th November - Individual Photographs
Just a reminder that Individual photographs of those who have requested them will be taken on Thursday and Friday of this week. Thursday – Nursery, P1, P2, P3 and
Friday – P4, P5, P6, P7, P8.
No hat, no play today!
There are still a number of children who are not bringing a hat to school on a regular basis. If this is your child, could you please send them into school with a hat, clearly labeled with his/her name and class. For sun safety we take this school rule very seriously.
Reminders!

24th – 28th November – Book week
3rd December – Lower School Sport’s day
4th December – Upper School Sport’s day
