Piasau Post - Issue 126
5 December 2008

Dear Parents

How the time has raced by and we are already at the end of a really action packed term. The build up to the holiday has been tremendous, with a super Book Week, Lower School Sport’s Day and next Tuesday our Science morning. Upper School Sport’s day will be moved into term 2 or term 3, when the weather is less inclement. The children looked stunning in the costumes they wore for the Book Week parade, as did the teachers and parents! Well done to all for such imaginative costume designs!

Some of you may be aware that Mr. Frank has returned to Piasau School! You will know that he left at the end of the summer term to lead the learning of a small group of children in Johor Bahru. Unfortunately there have been many problems in setting this into motion, so for the time being Mr. Frank is based back with us at Piasau School. He is waiting for the call at any moment, so we don’t know how long he will be here. We are delighted to have him back with us, even if it is just a temporary stay.

It was lovely to see so many of you at the Duathlon. What a super community event it was! The photographs are displayed on our website -http://www.piasauschool.com. A huge thanks to all those staff and parents who helped to make it possible.

As in previous years, the postbox for the children to send Christmas and New Year cards to each other will be placed outside Miss Linda’s office on Tuesday 9th December. This will be emptied daily by P8 and delivered to each class. We also have a book collection for Lutong school. If you have any unwanted books that are still in good condition, please pop them in the box outside Linda’s office.

Looking ahead to next term, our country focus for culture is Oman and then Thailand. If you have any resources you would like to share or if you would like to come into school and be more involved, then contact Mr. Stuart or Miss Julie. There is also the blank canvas display board by Mr. Nic’s office that you could contribute to!

“After School Activities" recommence on Tuesday 20th January. You have until the end of term to hand in your child’s choice slip to Mr. Nic.

We have a number of families leaving us at the end of this term. I wish you “bon voyage” and hope your move is a smooth one.  It has been a real pleasure having your children at our school and we all hope they settle quickly to their new home and school. Don’t hesitate to keep in touch – we are always interested to hear about our ex-pupils.

If I don’t happen to see you before the end of term, then I wish you a very happy holiday and will see you back again on Monday 5th January.
