Piasau Post - Issue 128
13 January 2009

Dear Parents,

I hope you have all had a wonderful holiday and I wish you a happy new year and hope that 2009 brings good health and happiness.

In particular I would like to welcome all the new parents, whose children have started at school recently. They all seem to have settled extremely well! We hope your children enjoy their learning with us.

Just a quick reminder that if you are moving house or changing your mobile phone or any other contact details, please do not forget to inform Linda in the office of your new contact details.

Swimming starts again this week! If you can help out at the KRP pool then please contact Miss Kath. We wouldn’t be able to provide swimming lessons without your help.

At the end of this newsletter you will see the dates for the term. There are some dates I would like to draw your attention to.

Following a very successful “Drop in” session last year we have decided to again offer this to parents on Thursday 29th January from 9.00am to 9.40am. This gives you the opportunity to pop into class and let your child show you all the fun learning they have been involved with. They will also show you his/her books and maybe involve you in some of their learning! But save any questions you have for the teacher until you meet with them the following week, when we have Parents’ Evening – Tuesday 3rd February.  The list for signing up for a time slot to see your child’s teacher will go outside Miss Linda’s office on Monday 19th January.

Maria, our librarian, will be leaving us soon to dedicate more time to bringing up her new baby. We wish her well and thank her for all her efforts to make the library so attractive and well ordered. If there is any parent who would like to help out in the library we would much appreciate it - putting books away and/or helping with the computerized loan system. If you are interested in lending a hand, please see Miss Catherine in the Nursery or Miss Jacqueline in P1.

We have a new date for the Jerudong International School  meeting for parents who are interested to learn more about what this school has to offer in terms of secondary education for their children, after they have left Piasau School – Monday 19th January. The Parents’ meeting will take place at school, at 4.00pm, when you will have the opportunity to speak to the Headteacher and some of his staff. We shall also be offering a Parents’ Information Evening on 5th February, for those parents of P7 children who are interested to know about the option of P8 at our school.

Other events happening this term include the Fox Hunt (31st January), when staff disguise themselves and “hide” around the camp. The children have to find as many staff as possible! The PTA will give more information as this date nears.  We have our end of term evening concert on 1st April with a later start to school on the following day. There is also a football tournament at Panaga School, Brunei (8th March).

As always our doors are open to you. Do not hesitate to pop in and see us if you have any queries.

Yvette
